Damian’s Story

Damian Raica founded the business and name whilst studying his Diploma at Ryde TAFE.
Florian was his grandfathers name and is a tribute to his memory.

The early years of his learning was spent at Royal Sydney Golf Club not only learning his future trade but also the importance of detail. What a great place to observe excellence than at a pre eminent provider of all things Horticulture, historically located in Rose Bay and the provider of quality sports turf for golf, tennis and croquet. Damian soon developed the desire to move into the plant world and began maintaining the golf course native gardens.

After completing his formal studies in Horticulture and Landscape Design he applied for and successfully completed a move back to the central coast at the newly opened Magenta Shores Golf Club as the course and Resort Horticultural Supervisor. Over the next 5 years overseeing the launch of many new gardens and landscapes both on course and within the Mirvac Hotel Resort.

The Diploma for Damian was all about beginning my own business and with the name sitting idle it was once again time to start trading as Florian Gardens. It has been 17 years now since Damian first set foot on course at Royal Sydney and the journey still continues.
